Forest park Sorochyi Yar near Yahotyn. Old mixed forest, ravines, access to the water.
Near Yahotyn, Sorochyi Yar park occupies a deep wooded ravine that drops to the shore of the great water. Old oaks and alders give way to dense shrubs, and reeds and low channels appear on the slopes. This is one of the most wooded points on the route, where waterbirds can be combined with forest species.
In spring great tits and blue tits sing in the canopy, and song thrushes and jays appear in the scrub. By the water look for kingfishers, grey herons and ducks, and woodpeckers fly over the ravine. In autumn jays and tits gather food before the cold, and gull flocks appear by the shore. Early morning is especially good for walking the ravine.
