Supii Center
Western shore of Malyi Supii-2, floating islands and reeds. The route's only private site.
On the western shore of Malyi Supii-2, where open water meets floating islands and reed beds, stands Supii Centre. Here in 2020 project author Yevhen Dovhalyuk first saw a large flock of waterbirds. That sight became the starting point for systematic study of birds in the Yahotyn area and the "Yahotyn: Birds" route.
From the shore there is a wide view over Malyi Supii-2 and farther south toward Malyi Supii-1 and Velykyi Supii. In spring and autumn ducks and swans hold by the reeds, terns and gulls circle over the water, and herons stand on the shallows. On the centre grounds there is a volunteer house where researchers stop year-round to keep bird records and maintain observation sites.
Practical tips
- This is the only private point on the ten-stop route. Before visiting, arrange time and access through the Supii Centre website or social media (links at the bottom of the page).
